Youth Programs

We believe in the power of strong families

Children are most likely to commit or experience criminal activity between 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.
This behavior includes vandalism, sexual misconduct, and cigarette, drug, and alcohol consumption.

The Salvation Army offers a wide array of community programs to help cultivate brighter futures. Along with community centers dedicated to supporting the physical, emotional, and spiritual growth of moms, dads, and kids, we provide summer camps for kids, after-school programs for students of all ages, summer programs for high school students, and numerous music, art, and athletic programs for aspiring youth. While free summer camp invites kids to experience the world in a new way, extracurricular activities give families access to programs they might not otherwise be able to afford.

The Salvation Army Helps Children Thrive Through:

Character-Building Programs

With more than 400 after-school programs nationwide, we foster an environment of learning long after the school day ends. By providing a safe place to study, read, learn, connect with friends, play sports, and enrich the mind, we give at-risk kids a healthy alternative to less-desirable after-school options.

Summer Camp for Kids

Many children from low-income families rarely experience life outside their immediate neighborhood. That’s why The Salvation Army’s annual summer camp programs are so important. Every year, thousands of kids get a fresh perspective on life as they meet new friends, discover new activities, and get a taste of the great outdoors. As campers learn to swim, play sports, create music, make art, and scout, their trained counselors help them navigate the complicated emotions and struggles often associated with their lives back home.
