For the neediest children in Palm Beach County, the simple joys of a childhood summer may seem unattainable. These at-risk kids will spend their summer wandering the streets or hanging out with other idle kids -- many of them bad influences… a recipe for trouble. But The Salvation Army can help struggling local families avoid such an outcome for their children.

Through donations, local underprivileged kids get to attend camp where they play sports, swim, explore the outdoors and make crafts. And beyond the recreation, they learn how to deal with the troubling issues and concerns that challenge them in their daily lives.

If you are interested in supporting Summer Camp programs or one of our other various programs please contact us at 561-686-3530.

Northwest Community Center Purpose Statement:

Emergency Disaster -RedIt is important that you realize how you CAN help The Salvation Army and those who are devastated by these disasters.

MONETARY DONATIONS are the most critical need as supplies and personnel are mobilized.

GIFTS IN KIND: Due to the high expense and time demands associated with delivering gently used household goods and clothing (gifts-in-kind), The Salvation Army cannot guarantee that any individual gifts-in-kind donated now will be sent to the disaster area. In times of disaster, our family (thrift) stores fill these needs from existing, presorted stock.

**  By continuing to donate gently used household goods to your local Salvation Army stores, you not only help your community, you help us prepare for future disaster relief needs.  **

HISTORY: The Salvation Army's first major Disaster Relief efforts resulted from the tragedies of the Galveston Hurricane of 1900 and the San Francisco Earthquake of 1906. The Salvationists nationwide appeals for financial and material donations yielded tremendous support, enabling the Army to provide assistance to thousands. General Evangeline Booth, when she offered the services of Salvationists to President Wilson during the First World War thrust Salvation Army social and relief work to newer heights. Today the Salvation Army is best known for its charitable efforts. The Salvation Army is a prominent non-governmental relief agency and is usually among the first to arrive with help after natural or man-made disasters. They have worked to alleviate suffering and help people rebuild their lives.

Whenever a disaster occurs The Salvation Army is prepared to provide the following: *Assistance to disaster workers *Meals (Individual/Mass Feeding through Mobile Field Kitchens and Canteens) *Water and Ice *Emergency Shelter *Distribution of Food and Clothing *Cleaning Supplies and Hygiene Products *Spiritual Ministry
