Double the Donation: Kettle Match Supports The Salvation Army in DuBois

Nov 10, 2025

DuBois, Pa. (November 10, 2025) – Thanks to the generosity of longtime supporter and business leader David Stern and his family, every donation made to The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign in DuBois between Friday, November 14 and Christmas Eve, Wednesday, December 24, 2025, will be matched up to $50,000 total. Red Kettle donations ensure The Salvation Army can continue critical feeding programs, rent and utility assistance, seasonal assistance as well as youth empowerment and spiritual programs for families and individuals in DuBois, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas. David Stern has been supporting The Salvation Army for the last few years. This year, he felt called to increase his gift and he hopes this act will inspire others.

Mr. Stern first visited The Salvation Army’s location in DuBois during the worldwide pandemic. He was moved by the dedication of the local Salvation Army Commanding Officers, Captains Spooner. He noted learning about the extensive work they were doing in the community was the catalyst for his support.

“I would encourage people to visit their local Salvation Army and learn about the needs,” Stern shared. “I was so inspired by the Spooners and the compassion that they have to help people…I’ve lived in the DuBois area my whole life and I did not know the extent of all the people who use these food banks to get themselves back on their feet.”

Gifts to the annual Red Kettle Campaign remain in the community where they are given and make it possible for The Salvation Army to deliver life-changing programs and services throughout the year. The Salvation Army’s goal is to raise $100,000 locally in DuBois, Pennsylvania this season, up from last year’s fundraising goal of $75,000.

“We are humbled and grateful for this generous gift that will continue to bless our community long after the Christmas season,” Captain Brianne Spooner, Commanding Officer of The Salvation Army DuBois said. “We are humbled and inspired by Mr. Stern and his family, who have decided to double their gift this year. This is truly an answered prayer and will allow us to significantly expand our youth programs and meet the increased feeding needs.”

Donations to the Red Kettle Campaign can be made in person at a Red Kettle location or virtually by visiting, https://salarmy.us/DuBoisKettle. Donations can also be made by texting the word “Kettle” to 31333. Donors can then reply with their ZIP code to ensure each donation goes directly back into the community where they reside. Additionally, gifts can be mailed to PO Box 246, DuBois, PA 15801, Attn Red Kettle.
