Salvation Army Venice needs after-school volunteers

Give one afternoon a week or more for kids in grades K-12

The Salvation Army in Venice is seeking volunteers for its after-school program. Kids from 5-12 participate in the Kids Zone program while teens in high school, ages 13-17 are part of our Teen Space program.

Homework clubs, organized recreation and snacks are part of the regular afternoon activities. Elective activities include music groups, character building and spiritual development.

Volunteers do not need to work five days a week, but a regular schedule of even one day would be appreciated. The program runs from 3 to 6 p.m. every day that Sarasota schools are in session. The Salvation Army also needs volunteers who would ride the bus as it picks up students at their respective schools from 2 p.m. daily. (The same volunteers may do both)

The program is held at the Salvation Army Venice’s Community Center, 1051 Albee Farm Road, Venice.
