VOLUNTEER to Ring Red Kettles?
Bell-ringing and Red Kettles have been a Salvation Army holiday tradition since 1895, and, today, are our largest annual volunteer-based activity. Funds donated through the Red Kettle program remain in Hillsborough County to provide food, shelter, emergency assistance and much more to the families in need.
The 2016 Red Kettle campaign will run Friday, Nov.11, through Dec. 24, between the hours of 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Volunteers are needed at more than 100 Publix Super Market, Walmart and Sam’s Club locations throughout Hillsborough. There is no ringing on Sundays or on Thanksgiving Day.
Host a Kettle Site
There are several options for companies and groups wishing to participate in the Red Kettle campaign. Your group can “adopt” a particular Kettle site by ensuring that 1-2 volunteers are scheduled to ring bells beside your kettle from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. during an established period of time. You can adopt kettle site for: the entire holiday season, a week, a weekend, or even a day.
The Salvation Army will provide signage for all groups that adopt a kettle site for at least a day. Your volunteers are welcome to wear t-shirts, hats, buttons or uniforms to represent and promote your company, club, church or organization.
Sponsoring a Kettle Site
If your group is unable to provide the volunteer support for a kettle site, you can sponsor a kettle site for $500 a week.
