The Fran Cohen Youth Center Summer Day Camp provides children of all ability levels the opportunity to play and grow in a positive and safe atmosphere. Motivated by God’s love, our program strives to develop the whole child – within their environment – to help them grow physically, mentally, and socially.
Week 1: NEW BEGINNINGS - Show us Camp Spirit through team banners, goofy hats, and crazy socks, minute to win it games, jell-o contests, friendship circles, trail mix, wacky relays, sports clinics, and more.
Week 2: SPACE STATION VACATION - 3, 2, 1…Blast-off as campers learn about the solar system through hands-on activities involving the planets, stars and moon. Make and eat moon rocks, create rockets, make parachutes to come back to earth!
Week 3: AARGH MATEY! - Have some swashbuckling pirate fun! Use maps to find lost treasure, pirate hats/eyepatches/sand art, capture the pirate flag, and survive the cannonball attacks through the obstacle course and learn about the history of SWFL pirates!
Week 4: STEAM AND SUPER SOUND - Explore the fascinating world of science and technology through hands-on experiments including exploring how sound waves look and travel through different mediums. Ever built a bridge? We will also explore gravity with an egg drop!
Week 5: BACKYARD BASH (CLOSED 4th of July) - Enjoy the great outdoors as we partake in summertime classic games like tug-of-war, kickball, foursquare, hopscotch, lawn games, nature crafts, picnics, recycling projects, s'mores, and a BBQ bash to end the week. (Parents invited to BBQ bash)
Week 6: SUPERHEROES - Meet and salute real life superheroes, take the superhero values challenge, dress up as favorite superhero, superhero games/craft and lend a hand as we pay it forward thru community service and create the hero in all of us.
Week 7: WATER, WATER EVERYWHERE!!! - Join us for our Rocking' Beach Party with hula hoop games, water balloon piñata, duck duck splash, water slides, and a watermelon contest with Luau on Friday.
Week 8: CSI WEEK - CCSI aims to develop your child's interest in forensic science. By using investigative techniques and scientific methods, your child will learn how to solve the mysteries behind crime scenes.
Week 9: CULTURE EXPLOSION - Calling all the superstars to step into the spotlight and showcase your talents through skits, games, dance, music and creative arts, as well learn about sounds and circuit. Enter the talent show and show us the Next Big Thing. (Parents are welcome to attend Talent Show – Check with Ms. Katherine for details.
Week 10: CELEBRATIONS - It’s time to wrap up the summer with all our friends. Celebrate each day with favorite moments like Shipwreck Stew, Slimy Activities, Root Beer Floats, Sports Clinics, and the final performance!
