FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: (November 22, 2016 – Naples, FL)
The iconic sound of The Salvation Army bells is back!
The Salvation Army in Collier County will officially kick of the 2016 Red Kettle season on Friday, November 25th, 2016. Nationally, the organization will be doing the same across the country.
While kettles have been stationed at a few select retail locations since mid-November, Black Friday is the official start of the kettle fundraising campaign. Now through Christmas Eve, hallmark red kettles can be found at more than 100 locations throughout Southwest Florida, including area Publix, Walmart, Walgreens and Winn-Dixie stores. The Collier County command’s 2016 kettle goal is $345,000. If the goal is met, the command will receive a $50,000 grant from The Richard M. Schulze Family Foundation.
The Salvation Army in Collier County has also implemented a new way to make kettle donations this year; via the purchase of a Red Kettle Pass. The pass is a lapel pin available in denominations of $20, $50 or $100. When worn, it signifies to bell ringers that a kettle contribution has already been made. Kettle Passes are available online at http://bit.ly/collierkettlepass or by calling Robin Wendell at 239-210-4006.
The national campaign launch is marked by a performance by Grammy nominated Country Music Star Eric Church during the Dallas Cowboys vs. Washington Redskins Thanksgiving Day Game, airing on Fox at 4:30PM, EST. The Dallas Cowboys are a long-standing national partner of The Salvation Army.
