Doing The Most Good Civic Luncheon 2016

The Salvation Army in Collier County recently honored local community leaders at its 2nd annual Doing The Most Good Civic Luncheon. More via Naples Daily News.

2016 honorees include reporter Gabrielle Shirley of NBC-2 as “Media Partner of The Year”, and Fifth Third Bank received the Army’s “Partner of The Year” award for their many annual programs which support Salvation Army clients. Long-standing Army volunteer and board member Richard Grunert received the distinct honor of a Lifetime Advisory Board Membership, and The Pelican Bay community’s Toys for Tots Committee was recognized for more than 20 years of donating holiday gifts and funds for children in need.

The event’s Keynote Speaker was Captain Andrew Miller III, MDiv, D.Min. Andy Miller III and his wife, Abby Miller, lead work of The Salvation Army in Tampa and Hillsborough County Florida. He is a sixth generation Salvation Army officer, with his roots dating back to the Army’s work in England during the 1880s. He holds degrees from Asbury University, Asbury Theological Seminary, and Southern Methodist University. Captain Dr. Miller is the author of Holistic Hospitality: A Bridge to a Future Army (2015) and Stay the Course: Challenges to Salvationists from the Book of Acts (2016). Andy has had several academic and popular articles published in Word and Deed, The Wesleyan Theological Journal, The War Cry, and The Officer Magazine amongst several other periodicals and journals.
