New Program Aims to Connect Seniors & Children
How can we keep generations connected? Simply put – children bring a true light into the lives of the senior population, and seniors have a lot to teach children. The Inter-Generational program between The Salvation Army in Collier County and Naples Beach House Assisted Living is the answer.
This exciting program provides these two populations with an opportunity to learn from, socialize, and work with one another through a variety of activities and events including games, educational programs, arts and crafts, and dramatic play.
Studies prove children who participate in such programs gain a positive attitude toward aging, an increase in communication skills, and a more positive outlook in the classroom. Seniors are ignited with a sense of value to their communities. They also learn new innovations and technologies, and even burn up to 25% more calories spending time with children. With each interaction, all participating individuals are building stronger connections that will impact their daily lives.
