Other ways to help this holiday season.
As you know, The Salvation Army of Collier County counts on year-round community support to keep daily programs running.
There are currently seventy 1 to 5-year-olds enrolled in our Child Development Center on Estey Avenue. We are always looking for volunteers to read a book to a child or to help a family with weekly tuition.
When families need to use childcare, it is important that their children are enrolled in the highest quality care possible. Last year, we implemented the Early Literacy and Learning Model (ELLM) curriculum. It consists of learning materials and strategies teachers use to provide literacy experiences. Making sure every child that passes through our doors enters school ready to learn, ready to read, and ready to succeed.
To fully implement this curriculum, each classroom needs updated materials, art supplies, and audio/ visual equipment. Teachers can also benefit from continuing additional training throughout the year.
We have created an Amazon Wish List for our Child Development Center here: http://a.co/caoFrpx
