How to Donate Airline Miles

There is now another way to give to The Salvation Army. Through United Airlines Charity Miles Program, Mileage Plus members can donate accrued miles enabling The Salvation Army to move personnel quickly in time of disaster, provide travel for those in need of emergency medical care outside of their area, and reduce administrative costs by providing travel for staff.

How it works:

  1. Set up a United Airlines Mileage Plus account, if you do not already have one, by contacting United at 1-800-421-4655
  2. Whenever you fly United Airlines or on a Star Alliance carrier, be sure to show them your United mileage card or inform them that you are a member and they will credit your miles to your account.
  3. To make a minimum donation of 1,000 miles to The Salvation Army, call United at 1-800-421-4655 and request that your Mileage Plus miles be transferred into The Salvation Army’s account.

You can use your miles to make a real difference in someone’s life. With the SkyWish program, you can donate miles to The Salvation Army and join in supporting their worthwhile programs, such as moving personnel quickly in time of disaster, or providing travel for those in need of emergency medical care or who have social service emergencies outside of their area.

How it works:

All donations can be made through the SkyWish website or by e-mailing and including your name, SkyMiles number, SkyWish charity name, donation amount, and telephone number. If you would like to make a donation by fax or mail, Contact SkyMiles. Donations can also be made by calling the SkyMiles automated phone line at 1-800-325-3999.

Donations must be a minimum of 1,000 miles and are not tax deductible for SkyMiles members or Delta. Allow up to 6 weeks for miles to be deducted from your account.
