WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (CBS12) — It is one of America’s oldest and most respected charities and this week marks a huge milestone for them; the Salvation Army of Palm Beach County is celebrating 100 years of service to those in need.
From soup kitchens and shelters to the Christmas Kettle bell ringers, it’s hard to imagine a time without the Salvation Army, but it wasn’t until 1922 that they first opened their doors here in Palm Beach County. It started even before that, in London in 1865 with a Methodist minister named William Booth.
