brewing hope

When people come to The Salvation Army seeking food, shelter, or emergency financial assistance, they receive an application to fill out. Included in the application is a voluntary questionnaire that includes just two questions.

Our ‘Brewing Hope’ series will give you insight on what assistance men, women, and children in need are seeking when they come through our doors, and what it means to them to receive a hand up and a sense of hope in their time of need.

Name: Kelly

What brings you to The Salvation Army for assistance? I have had water off for a long time, the bill is more than I can pay lately. I have manic depression – the depression can be debilitating. I take medicine and I try very hard to stay even. I also have fibromyalgia and its been very challenging. I have a lot of pain I’m living with, but trying hard not to dwell on it.

What does receiving assistance from The Salvation Army mean to you? It’s a blessing for me and my daughter. we do not have family, it’s just me and her. So reaching out to family is reaching out to The Salvation Army. It’s life changing. We appreciate the help very much!

Thank you for supporting the programs and services of The Salvation Army, so we can help people find the hope they need to face another day.
