When people come to The Salvation Army seeking emergency financial assistance, they receive an application to fill out. Included in the application is a voluntary questionnaire that includes just two questions.
Our ‘Brewing Hope’ series will give you insight on what assistance men, women, and children in need are seeking when they come through our doors, and what it means to them to receive a hand up and a sense of hope in their time of need.
What brings you to The Salvation Army for assistance? I lost my job about 5 weeks ago. I have fallen behind on my bills due to this. I’ve been able to pay a few bills, except my water bill is still past due and will be scheduled to be turned off. I have my child in my home full-time, and hope to receive help so this doesn’t happen.
What does receiving assistance from The Salvation Army mean to you? It means not stressing my daughter out. I don’t want her to worry or know. I want her to focus on school and feel safe.
Thank you for supporting the programs and services of The Salvation Army, so we can help people like Rachel find the hope they need to face another day.
