When people come to The Salvation Army seeking emergency financial assistance, they receive an application to fill out. Included in the application is a voluntary questionnaire that includes just two questions.
Our ‘Brewing Hope’ series will give you insight on what assistance men, women, and children in need are seeking when they come through our doors, and what it means to them to receive a hand up and a sense of hope in their time of need.
What brings you to The Salvation Army for assistance? Our electricity bill is over a month past due. It’s necessary for medical reasons. I use a hospital grade nebulizer with albuterol for my COPD. My powerchair is my mobility. We need electricity for the refrigerator, lights, to move around, and take care of ourselves.
What does receiving assistance from The Salvation Army mean to you? It means there are good people willing to help those in need. You’re helping a disabled man and his wife (24/7 caregiver) at a time when others still unfortunately won’t. You’re a blessing.
Thank you for supporting the programs and services of The Salvation Army, so we can help people like Marc find the hope they need to face another day.
